Orewa 2
Arrived back in Orewa for couple days; for a rest before returnig to City of s***e (Auckland). Not a lot had changed there, the batchelors appeared to still be milling about being weird. Went for evening run on beach followed by briefest dip ever in water due to crab underfoot(Sam's) and sighting. This time we took advantage of the hot tub, was almost to hot to handle. Played cards and went to bed.
Woke in the morning to find luxury choc dessert gone as well four gallons of orange juice. First blamed it on the batchelors and left s***ty abusive message in the fridge. We then found out that it was infact an outsider, who'd done it before. Cheeky bloody b*****s!! Decided to embrace the nz barefootage into town running errands. Later regretted! Went for swim in sea, crabless this time Got back to pillows to do sketch/scrap books, exciting! Found we were going to be staying in dorm with phyco lady who had left family after an argument and was a spiraling hole of depression. Had a rather sleepless night thanks to her and drunken Clayton on kitchen watch, great!!!
Packed up yet again before trip up the coast to Waiwera. Caught local bus to hot springs pool complex; boiling hot pools upto 48 degrees, a movie pool and many extreme flumes. smelt of sulphur egg fumes too! Took a quick look at the beach there, back on bus to Orewa to say our goodbyes and catch our last bus back to Auckland with magic and Colin!!
Bus trip was an emotional one, boo hoo! Colin seemed sad to see us go. Think we had the record for the most places visited on the trip ever!!! We will be remembered....
Auckland 2
Arrived back in Auckland at City Garden and setted in to twin room for the price of dorm as they were busy!! great. Ate tea and decided to go out for drink in Parnell. Ended up at trendy bar with live music, after walking indecicivley up and down the road for about a month. Tried a few NZ beers whist listening to jazz piano and husky NY city black soul man sing. lovely and chilled. Left in a daze and walked straight into glass panel, mistaking it for an open door much to one womans amusement. straight to bed in giggles.
Headed into town car hunting got a little distracted though. Found a little market mooched around lots of nice stuff but we were only window shopping. We sampled the alternative cuisine for lunch as we did appear to be in 'Chinatown'. Had a rice roll which consisited of a choice of fillings such as fish, veg and meat which is rolled in the middle of sticky rice; was yummy. we visited backpackers car market which was pretty s***, meandered back though town being suprised by the amount of 'alternative' and crap second hand boutiques aimed at the Asian market. The day had flown by and we went to bed a little disheartened and knackered.
Up early for another car market we took a car for a test drive but found out the seller was a lying b******. No car as yet. Went back through Parnell and drowned our sorrows with chocolately goodness at the Chocolate Boutique. Stunning hot chocolates drinks of every flavour and mix and consistency possible. Camping at lodge as ran out of room, early night again as up early for yet another sodding car market, sorry if we're now boring you!!
Get on crappy public transport to Ellerslie car market after hefty walk into town. The transport system is crap. the time tables arnt clear and the bus was driven by an incompetent fool ( the guy had no idea where he was going, where ellerslie was on his bus route and what english language was - cheap labour, no other possible explanation). After being harassed by a drunk guy on the bus ( still on the sauce from the night before) we just about managed to hop of in the right spot and find the car market at the racecourse along with some other clueless travellers. There were shed loads of cars and me and em thought it must be third time lucky. We took this lovely ( well as lovely as you can get for 2nd hand cheap car) Mazda Lantis for a spin; automatic, 1.8 ltr, electric everything, comvincing seller, sporty number in and old man kind of way. To cut a long story short, me em were both dribbling, so we got the car checked ( where you see previous onwers, convitions, anything dodgy etc) and decided this was the car for us. It was no way a travellers car but we liked it anyway. So we exchanged money and handshakes and we pulled away in our slick car ( i only say slick because it is the best looking car i have ever owned).
Now we had our car it was time to escape the city and head for the coast. Piha was our chosen destination, just across on the west coast opposite Auckland. And the journey continued...
