Known as 'windy Wellington'. This is the capital of New Zealand, 'Base Backpackers' is probably the most popular hostel but it is quite expensive so we decided to look for another one. we found one called 'Downtown Backpackers' which was 21 dollars a night and a 20 bed dorm. this hostel was a little walk from the centre it took about 15 minutes which was fine. We had three nights in Wellington and were told that the night life is very good so we decided to go out while we were there. we spent the first day wandering around checking out the shops and went to 'Courtney Place' (where all the clubs are' during the day it just looked like nothing was there at all. in the evening around 6 we started getting ready and we had 2 for 1 vouchers for the hostel bar to we made good use of them while having a couple of games of pool. we got a taxi to the centre as it was cold, noit what we were used to. Courtney Place is all lit up at night by bars and clubs. We ended up in a club called 'Maya' which was recommended to us. it was great the music was really good and we had a really good night. we got to bed about 5.30am.

Wellington is like any capital really highrise buildings, shops, cafe's, endless amounts of restaurants etc. it was a pretty place though, there were many statues including one which i always remember which is a man and his dog. our last night was spend chilling out in the tv room where we met a very interesting guy who gave us lots of information about Hawaii as he was from there. We had an early start in the morning so had an early night.

We have now done the North Island and are due to get the boat over to the south Island at about 8.30am. I personally loved what i saw in the North Island and i think we both did, just the sheer amount of space and the greenery. Before coming to New Zealand it was a place that i just didnt know what to expect. Much of the North Island reminded me of Wales or Scotland.
