Samantha's Travels
HI Everyone
I have finally made it to the place where my opening photos on the blog are from and I can honestly say that it really does look like this when I look out onto the beach.
The sea is clear turqoise water, there are blue clear skies and golden sand beaches with palm trees and some great restaraunts and bars. I am staying in a place called Ngombo Beach and is lovely to be here for four days relaxing in the luxory of a small beach hotel rather than camping as I have been for quite a while.
I am hoping to do some more scuba diving here and certainly will be snorkelling and just relaxing on the beach.
We had a day in the capital Stonetown and did a spice tour that included seeing all the old forts and slave market before heading off to a spice farm to taste fresh spices off the bushes and trees like ginger, lemon grass, pepper etc.
Zanzibar has a very different feel to the rest of Tanzania due to the arab influence and is predominantly muslim, so people dress and look very different too. We are here during Ramadan as well so everyone is fasting.
The seafood is wonderful and I had the best Calamari last night for my dinner.
I have now almost finished the second section of the overland tour and will be heading off into Malawi soon.
I will update again soon.
