Star of a Day in Edinburgh!
Up and out today to solve the age old dilemma of what to do when you've shopped and your stuff won't fit in your suitcase. Answer: Don't ship it for $150+ with no guarantee it will arrive before your interview, go to a really cool store called Argos and buy a dirt cheap duffel that fits your old suitcase and also has room for shopping bags inside! Bonus: still WAY under the 20kgs weight limit! Next stop today was Edinburgh Castle! Looked at the Scotland's Crown Jewels(The Honours of Scotland), St. Margaret's Chapel, see the Scottish National War Memorial, hear the one o'clock gun, and explore towers and dungeons prisons. Had my picture taken with Braveheart-William Wallace in full costume! He was an impressive history teacher who knew a little bit about the country of each person who posed with him and apparently goes around to classrooms in Scotland teaching students about Scottish history. He had some hilarious lines he'd say while you took your picture, so I'm pretty sure my eyes look shut in all the pictures because I was laughing so hard! Back to the hostel for a rest and book my hostel in Dublin, then out for a walk. Went through Grassmarkat and then down the Royal Mile toward the Palace of Holyroodhouse. (The official residence of Her Majesty the Queen when she is visiting Scotland.) but I missed the last entry, so I browsed the gift shop and wouldn't you know...the Queen has white hyacinth scented spray! It smells just like the fields of hyacinth in the Netherlands! Yum! Had a great time taking pictures of doors, signs, details on buildings feeling artsy about it all!
Funny Detail: I have stayed in two of the themed rooms at Castle Rock Hostel and love their quirky sense of humor in naming the beds.
Examples:
ROOM: Snow White and the 7 Dwarves That Failed the Screen Test BEDS: Poopy (mine), Pished, Pervy, Pimp, Pummy, Pukie, Spanky, Burpy and Touchy Feely.
ROOM: The Brain Room BEDS: Brain Dead (mine), Brain Strain, Brainiac, Brainless, Brain Surgeon, Pea Brain, Brainy Smurf & Lame Brain.
Tomorrow Plans: Try to get an earlier than 9pm flight to Cork so I might be able to check into a hostel or catch a bus to Schull before the wee hours of the mornin'. Hope I have the luck o' the Irish tomorrow!
