Duomo Day
I slept in and stayed cozy in my bed reading a book for a while. It is good to rest and pamper yourself during travel to avoid getting sick and the sore throat I had is almost completely gone. I ventured out to the Duomo and all of the shopping around downtown. There was also a festival going on with kids dressed up (like Halloween) and throwing confetti and spraying silly string everywhere! the pigeons didn't know what to do with all the confetti and flew around pecking at it while the children and families had a great ol' time throwing confetti and taking pictures. Brunch was at the Luini Pazerotti and I chose it because it had the longest line of people hapily waiting down a side street. It was SOO worth it. Panzerotti is like a little calzone with mozzarella, meat, or in my case, ricotta and spinach on the inside. Just for good measure I had a zeppole (ZEHP-pole-ee) for dessert. It is an Italian type of doughnut with chocolate in the middle. Had fun buying a few accessories for changing up my clothes since there isn't room to really buy more without sending some home first. I figured out how to get an Italian SIM card for my phone, booked a tour of Milan for Saturday morning! I can't wait to see the Leonardo da Vinci Last Supper Painting! Had to have a small limon gelatto for the ride back on the metro (haha it's only 1 stop away). I met a couple of fun girls here at the hostel and we had home cooked pasta and went out for crepes and a drink afterward. It was really fun to talk to a girl from Denmark and a girl from Paris and compare stories and cultures.
Lessons learned:
-
All of a sudden I like fresh tomatoes and nutella. I didn't think I liked either of these much. Is it Europe or have I just grown up a bit?
Tomorrow plans:
Wander around Milan and try to see a few sights that wont be on the tour.
