Picnic Day in Ireland.
Evie planned a day out for us today. We started by packing up a yummy picnic lunch and picking up her friends Mave and Brid and driving to Baltimore. (Yes, this is where the USA Baltimore is named after.) The plan was to catch the ferry, but after having a pint of Murphey's and missing 2 ferries because the line was so long, we switched plans and met Michelle, her son Eraan, Susan and two students Angela and Julian in a close by park and had a feast in the sunshine. After we walked up to Beacon where there is literally a beacon and some stunning views! I kicked myself for not bringing my camera on that walk, but will have the memory in my minds-eye. We all laughed and joked all day about how Americans say one thing and the Irish say another and then tried to fit them into our conversation as much as possible. After our little hike we drove to Lough Hyne (pronounced: Lock Ine) and I went swimming in the salt water lake! It was quite cold, but good fun and guaranteed I was awake! We came back and warmed up and had a yummy dinner with Vary before going out to Hacket's a local pub with a DJ playing. Since yesterday was Good Friday and the only day of the year that the pubs close, it was quite packed tonight and the rest is history....
Tomorrow Plans: EASTER!
Words:
Pants= underpants or knickers; Irish say Trousers for pants
Cookie= biscuit
Gross= mank or mingin
Sidewalk= footpath
Zero= Oh
H="Hayche" when saying the letter.
Don't say "fanny" at all in Ireland :o)
