Morocco has not disappointed - well once we left Casablanca that is.

It is an amazing country, in some ways the landscape reminds us of Australia- big wide open spaces, heaps of native Australian plants growing wild - gum trees, wattle, grevillea robusta- thanks mum ( silky oak). In most other ways it is so different. We have learnt a lot of history - particularly Islamic history as Islam is not only a religion but an identity of most Moroccans- as one guide said " All Moroccans are muslim, we are born muslim, not everyone prays but we all do Ramadan even if we are not religious"

Since we left Casablanca we have been to Rabat, Meknes, Volubilis and driven across the plains through the Riff mountains and into the Lower Atlas mountains to Fes.

We have seen gardens of the King, lots of Mosques, lots of old buildings, heaps of fountains and mosaics galore.

The landscape of Morocco is a patchwork of different crops, towns and rocks and villages.

The people are friendly and welcoming - even if you don't want to buy something!

More of the Fes medina today, then we are off to Marrakesh by train- 8 hours! Photos will come soon but the internet is slow where we are now.
