Casablanca, why is it such a magical name? Mystery and beauty is what I have always associated with the name, the mystery is why that is so. It is a very dirty, messy, ugly city. The medina( old city/market) was interesting and we found a few good things- a couple of pairs of typical moroccan shoes cheap and quite good quality. There were some very friendly people in there too. But overall it isn't a nice city at all. Tonight we meet our tour guide and the rest of the tour people. I am glad we have chosen to do a tour hopefully we will get to see another side to this place.
We did start the day in a funny way though, we were woken by room service at 5.58am - or so my phone clock said, I thought that seemed pretty early to want to service the room. When we went down to breaky at what I thought was 8am turned out to 11am. Well, that sure made the day go quickly! Next time we will check with someone before changing our clocks.

Cas duff Hi Sally I would have expected it to be magical too. Hope your tour is good. Hey I'm in Hobart & the printmaking down here is stunning!
Meg Ha ha!! Never trust technology - even an iPhone! Interesting how places are sometimes more magical if you read about them than actually go there and see the reality of them xx meg
Pam J Have loved looking at the photos, and reading your news. The Morocco photos reminded me of Portugal (many years ago) beautiful mosaic, lovely old train station and wide tiled streets. Sadly I'm not surprised that the city is dirty and ugly...I think I've suspected this for a while. However, I hope the tour will take you both to some beautiful and fascinating places. Have you found some wonderful textiles?
Becca Allchin obviously you needed the sleep in!
