Rome is big, big buildings, big history, big statues, big lots of people!!
We have had a great 5 days here. We were joined by our English friends Shirley John and Abi and we had great fun and learnt heaps thanks to our tour guide, history guide and information reader -John. We managed to arrive just in time for republic day when everything is closed and there are heaps of people in the city, but that didn't stop us walking all over Rome.
We have seen way too many churches and walked many kms. It was necessary to have a rest in a cafe/ bar pre dinner and a spritz to revive us.
It was amazing to see all the iconic places we have heard so much about. The Sistine chapel paintings were amazing, a close second was the way we were channeled through the Vatican via a complex route so that we saw lots of other things along the way ( some would say too many other things) it did nearly do our heads in. I did however, love the Raphael paintings and the phenomenal decoration throughout the Vatican.
So much to take in.
We also managed to meet Matt and Jess Kuc for monday night dinner as they had just arrived in Rome to begin their European holiday. Great fun night.
We pretty well covered all the main roman attractions so feel well educated.
It was excellent to have friends to share the experience with also.

Madeleine de Haan What an awesome photo Sally! Reminds me of a shell you might find on the beach.
