This week has been lovely. We flew to Dubrovnik from Rome and had a great 2 days there. We explored the old city ( so clean), swam in the sea( so beautiful) A little rocky but lovely blue clear water, probably because there isn't any sand. We went to the top of the cable car to look out over the sea and city. The border of Bosnia is right behind at the rugged mountain range.
We went on a 3 island day trip which was interesting as we got to travel up the coast and visited the Eliphite islands, ate a fish grill for lunch , swam in a sandy cove then chugged back to Dubrovnik.
Next day we caught a bus up the coast to Spilt as there were no ferries. It is a beautiful coast though and the bus was air conditioned, we were able to see just how rugged the coastline here is. There are villages perched on the edge of cliffs, it is hard to imagine how they actually built them. We even went through Bosnia and Herzigovia as it has a mini bit of coastline- probably to grow muscles and oysters.
Split seemed huge after Dubrovnik but all we did was get off the bus onto the ferry to get us to Brac. We have booked ourselves into a lovely place for 4 nights to relax and recover from all the history we have been learning.
Here we have swum in the sea, relaxed, eaten, worked on our tans. Ah this is the life!
One more day of this then off to Split for a night then we fly to Berlin for our German leg. I have been listening in on the (many) German conversations that are going on here in Croatia, in the hope my german will come back to me. Germans obviously love Croatia- well it is warm!
