Lucca is a beautiful walled ( yes another walled) city. We took the train, and as we had to change trains in Pisa, decided to do a quick walk down to the leaning tower. It was still leaning, in fact it has recently been cleaned so it looked pretty good for a leaning tower.
Back to Lucca. The wall around Lucca is really wide and there is a bike track and park all around the old city. The old city has very little traffic so it is quiet and great for bike riding. We hired bikes and spent a couple of hours slowly cycling around the town - both on the wall and around the streets.
Finished the day off with a spritz in the roman amphitheater - circular piazza surrounded by shops and cafes.
A very relaxing and enjoyable day.
