Day 19 - oh the pain!! Apparently we drank to much last night!! Both of us woke up feeling very ill, headache central and not good! But we had booked ourselves in the day before for a tour around the Copan ruins so we had to try and get up!!
Still feeling very ill we walked down to the ruins which the fresh air actually helped the hangover. Dry biscuits and a hydration tablet also helped the stomach however not a lot was helping Mel's hangover who had a big spew in one of the bins in the ruins. I couldn't help but laugh however was not going anywhere near her as I would then be doing the same!
It was a 3 hour tour in hot sun so it was tough but at the same time it was interesting. None of us were asking any questions though as the need to move through the tour quickly was a big necessity just to survive and get back.
Finished the tour and headed back to have a sleep. It was our last night in Copan so everyone except Mel decided to go to the natural hot springs to relax and have a BBQ dinner.
Mel prior to the hangover had come down with a cold and before going out wasn't feeling crash hot, (which probably explains why she was so sick) but she toughed it out - like all good Aussies do, but because she still had a bit of a fever and was still feeling s*** from the hangover she decided that it wasn't a good idea for her to sit in hot pools with a fever and to have a night to herself and try and get better.
So off we went. It was a 2 hour trip in a small bus on very very bumpy roads. It felt like forever. But when we finally got there it was amazing. You had to walk over a hanging bridge and through a small tunnel to get to them. Some of the springs were off limit as they were as hot as 80 degrees, so hot it would burn your skin instantly. So we stayed away from those ones!! Some pools were really hot - 45 degrees and then they progressively reduced in temperature. There was also a hot water fall which you could use to massage your head and shoulders. And my favorite a cold blitz shower used after being in the hottest pool - sooo good!! The other one that was great was the mud pool. Idea being that you smother yourself in mud and let it sit for a bit and then get in the pool and wash it off. It left your skin feeling amazing!!
After spending a few hours in the pools we had dinner and then headed back.
