Day 6 - Early start for the first day of our tour and it was agreed over dinner and drinks that we would all do white water rafting - a fun activity to do all together. So on the bus we went and it seems that the seat you chose that day was going to be the seat you were always going to have on every bus that followed. So a fellow group member -Gerome and I had the back seats and we were happy as we could spread out, although we did have the bags to worry about on the bumpy roads, but so far it's been all good, and no injuries via bag yet - pura vida!
So just briefly I will talk about our group. There is 11 of us plus our tour group leader Fernado, so a nice number. The age bracket is 24 - 35. Five of us are in the the 30 - 35 bracket. There are 5 Aussies - 2 being a couple and the only couple in the group and apart from myself and Mel they are all doctors. One has just graduated and the other two have been working in ED for a few years now. The others are from Canada, Norway, Switzerland, France and the Netherlands. So a good mix and all speak English. A couple of them speak small amounts of Spanish so that helps. We all seem to blend together well, and everyone is easy to get along with so its been an easy transition.
The youngest person in our group is Jason and he is paired with one of our oldest guys in the group, so it's a funny combination. The two of them have formed a bromance and so there are a few pranks and a bit of teasing going on, however Gerome being the oldest has the upper hand on Jason. Gerome is very quick witted and uses simple humor - very entertaining for the rest of us.
Jason has been the one filming bits and pieces all through the day and putting together a 15 second snippet of each day on Instagram - it's been great seeing what he puts together each day and it will be great to look back on.
Anyway back to the day - after a few hours of driving through the hills we got to the place where we were doing the water rafting. It was raining but it was still very humid so it actually made it pretty fun. It was only a grade 3/4 rapid so NZ water rafting s***s all over it!! It was still good fun and it actually went for a good amount of time. Bonus was that when we finished we got a really good lunch.
Then after lunch back on the bus and we were heading for La Fortuna. We ended the day with dinner and live music at a place called Luna Lava and we were all feeling pretty exhausted.
