We trekked a little along the historic Route 66 this morning but we are hoping to get another chance to see more.
We left needles this morning and drove to Bullhead City for lunch. There was a nice picnic spot by the Colorado River. We put our feet in and the water was darn cold! Brrrr.
It's amazing on one corner there is desert rocks and cactus' and the next there is a casino??? They just pop up.
We decided we would make the effort and arrived at Boulder City around 2pm. What a lovely little town! As we drove in I thought it was another shopping area like domain but it was actually cafes, museums and well I'm not 100% sure what else but I can't wait to get a better look tomorrow.
We decided to spend the afternoon at the Hoover Dam which was just marvellous! We did the tour for $15 each and we went right down inside to the power plant. Web is always watching the docos on how it was built so it was great to really see it. It's quite an amazing feat. We went down 530 feet in an elevator. Can't see that ever happening at the Burdekin.. They didn't have a flood demonstration model like our Burdekin either. (Possibly because the hoover has only overflowed two or three times and it is the desert).
Tonight we are at the Lake Mead RVpark just by the dam. It is heavily packed. We got one of the last Sites. I wish I knew about the amazing sunset earlier. We caught a glimpse of it but not long enough to get a good picture.
Adios
