Sometimes things just fall into your lap and you just have to enjoy and take advantage of it.
Take today as a case in point. Yesterday we had decided to spend a second night in Nelsons Bay. Based on this decision, Denise and I booked a short tour of the Stockton Beach Sand Dunes for early this morning. After breakfast this morning we discovered that there is a big deep sea fishing derby in town today and tomorrow and we couldn't stay another night here. Not only that, there were no rooms for 10 km all around.
Since we had already paid for the tour on line, we figured we might as well take it and look after as the tour was only an hour. After getting lost several times, finally found Stockton Beach. The tour driver was waiting for us and said we were the only people who had booked this tour this morning, and one other couple had signed up for the three hour tour. So we were upgraded! We had a short discussion whether that would be too late to look for a room and decided to go with the flow.
Are we ever glad we did. These sand dunes are simply spectacular. This photo is at the start of the dunes before we even began. You can see people in the background riding horses and camels.
