This is Maria waiting outside the Tourist Board in the rain waiting for it to open at 9:00. We need to buy a map as the old one seems to have disappeared (probably got hit by lightning the other night) and don't know where we're going today. (no snickering laughs, please). It's déjà vu all over again.

"The best laid plans of mice and men gang aft agley." Well we were all prepared to stay here another day and woke up to this. RAIN!!!!! Got the forecast and decided to move on. Rain all day, sometimes heavy.

Downtown Byron Bay, looking for a restaurant. We liked this place on sight. If we can find a vacant room, I think we will spend 2 nights here. We want some beach time and there are lots of curiosity shops to explore. A trail to a lighthouse and the weekly market tomorrow.

Denise took this picture of a wild turkey in the parking lot of the motel we are staying in in Byron Bay. They are an endangered species, but we have seen them everywhere. After unpacking, we went for a swim in the pool, and walked the beach for about 2 hours until it was time to eat. We noticed that it is cooler here, only 27 so we shut off the air conditioning in the room.
