Poem for Arina & Rikus

As you set out on your venture and you waved goodbye to friends

Your thoughts were full of details and plans to get you to the end.

We had details of the little things that caused havoc at the start

But you have overcome adversity and proved the Landie has a heart

You now delight us with your tales and we dream to be with you

And your journal is one that is written by a hand that knows its true

That we share this world with family and with friends we've yet to meet

And its beauty is only ours for a moment, but never ours to keep

So as you meander through the countryside and we follow on your map

You drop the occasional line so we know just where your at.

Then embrace each sunrise warmly as it greets each brand new day

For you to see some more amazing sights to be viewed that certain way

They are kept secret from the most of us but we believe it might be true

That god has created all this glory and he placed it there for you

You have made us laugh and you made us cry with your tales from far away

And you have made us all remember proudly that when we set you on your way

If your mind is always open your heart will skip a beat

At the fascination people that we are lucky enough to meet

On a journey of discovery not just of a land so true but a discover of

Ourselves as if we took this trip with you.

What is a girl to do without her daily blog check. I groan when there is nothing and sigh when there is ... but soon it will all be over. I know Rikus.... in 18 sleeps it's my turn!!

It has been a great joy and privilage to follow your journey. I have laughed at your tales and cried, no doubt, with you as you remind us of the realities that is Africa.

Die Faro draai in sy graf om as hy weet watse drama hom daar tussen sy piramides afspeel! Pas julself mooi op, gryp die dag met al sy oppe en affe, na al die dinge kan jul beslis 'n boek skryf. Adrie you are our lifeline thankyou. One thing I do know from travelling with Rikus is that a more capable person ive yet to meet so whilst it is difficult not to worry I am without doubt that they will remain safe and find new adventures behind doors that they will now open in different directions.

Kan nie glo dat julle al in Egipte is nie. Arina, dit is seker daai lekker drankies wat julle aande verorber en dan moet die Landi dit ongeld. Hoop julle kry die geleentheid om op die Nyl te vaar en ook die piramiedes te besoek. Pas net op vir die dooie Faro's wat mag aanlê by ons Kaapse vrou. Julle fotos en daaglikse nuusdekking van al jul gebeure is besonders en maak mens beslis jaloers. Ek hoop dat julle darem videos ook neem wat ons later kan sien. Ons wens julle alle voorspoed en veilige seereis toe wanneer julle die vasteland verlaat. Kyk mooi na julle self en geniet elke oomblik van 'n een in 'n leeftyd ervaring.

STRANDFONTEIN

Hello Tannie Arina. Het vandag eers van die website gehoor. Nou kan ons bietjie volg en kyk waar julle oral rondrits. Dit lyk absoluut ongelooflik. Ons is baie jaloers. Hier by Oudewerf gaan dit baie goed. Ons het nuwe bure gekry, jong getroude paartjie. Dit is baie warm hier, maar ons geniet die sonskyn. Sal so af en toe inloer en kyk waar julle trek. Voorspoed en mag die Liewe Vader julle veilig hou.

Wow - Simien Mountains look every bit as spectacular as I had imagined. If not for the lack of landing sites I do believe the hang glider might have had to make an appearance.

The world will truely unite when we can stop being surprised at how wonderful the people are in some of its far corners.

Having just spent 5 day shoveling mud from our poor flooded city it was wonderful to finally get a chance to catch up on your blog. It truely does bring all of us great joy and remind us just how lucky we are.

Hi Arina en Rikus

Hier op Strandfontein gaan dit voor die wind (sonder wind en sonskyndae). Ons is almal omtrent bruin gebrand en boer in die seewater. Nadia het leer surf en Tiaan doen lewensredder pligte op die strand. Tania en ek baljaar op die boogie borde, al is ons meer onder die water as wat ons bo is. Strandfontein loop tans leeg soos die vakansiegangers huis toe vertrek. Ons kla nie, want nou is Strandfontein weer ons eie.

Dit is baie lekker om jul toer te volg en al die nuusberigte en fotos te lees. Dit lyk asemrowend en beny julle twee. Hoop die landy se probleembies is nou uitgesorteer en dat die res van die toer nog voorspoediger sal wees. Ons monde water as ons van al julle lekker watertand restaurante lees. Dit moet darem lekker bederf wees om net aan te sit en die etes en omgewings te geniet.

Arina, ons drink 'n vonkelwyntjie op julle as julle die noordelike Afrika kus oorsteek. Jy moet Kophou, uithou en vasbyt.
