Today we visited the Van Gogh Museum. I loved the way it followed the story of his life. A very enjoyable way to spend a morning in Amsterdam. From there we wandered back towards the main canal and train station to the flower markets. We were too late to see the early morning display of flowers on sale, but the amount of bulbs available was amazing enough - as was all the grow your own substances. Stan amused himself with trinket shopping, yet again....
We wandered back to the favourite Café Hoppe. It was less crowded today and we found a seat in the old bar side.
Spent a wonderful day just wandering the streets and canals of the city. I don't think I will ever get tired of the views.
Sadly, mum and Dave missed out on much of what they planned to see and do around Amsterdam as they spent all day at the British Embassy waiting for a replacement passport.
Our last night in Amsterdam - and we ended up in a Belgian Restaurant. De Zotte was awesome. The entire experience added up to one of the best evenings of the holiday. The bar staff were very friendly, as were the resident cats. The beer options were never ending,120 different ones, each with a matching glass and the food was delicious. We were required to move a few times as the bar staff were trying to locate beers that were stored in the cupboards behind us.
