Today was busy. We started off collecting some souvenirs. It was never going to be easy selecting memento masks from the thousands available. Then after choosing the preferred making it back to shop it was seen it. The number of canals, tiny alleys, bridges and dead-end streets cannot be understated.
After making our purchases, we decided they would be no fun to cart around for the rest of the holiday. Stan also had the problem of a nearly dead suitcase and too many trinkets. We decided to post some of our stuff home. Luckily the man at the post office could speak a bit of English. We put all of our precious souvenirs into a big box, addressed it, filled in our paperwork and said goodbye to it. I wonder if we will ever see it again........
Duties complete, we caught a vaporetta around the islands. The land is so flat and the sea is very shallow. We avoided the glass blowing factories and just settled for a sight seeing trip.
Once back on the mainland, Stan sought out a man leaning on a pole saying "Gondola .......... Gondola “ to the passers by. We paid our 80 euros. Very expensive but a unique experience.
