Today we purchased a 2 day ticket on The Open Tour bus company. We completed the main route today, which was the Green route. This included most of the main sites. It had recorded commentary. I prefer life commentary, but you rarely see it in big towns anymore - at least this way you can always hear it!!
We passed all of the main sites - l'academie de musique (where the story of the Phantom was based) Le Louvre, Notre Dame, Place de la Concord, Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower. It's a nice way to see the city stress free. We enjoyed it as we had gone inside both Le Louvre and Notre Dame last trip, so it was a great way to get our bearings.
The traffic was amazing. It seemed the entire city is in permanent gridlock. Getting around the Place de la Concord - No thanks!!
In the afternoon we did the Yellow Route. It toured the northern Paris including Montmartre and past the Moulin Rouge. Definitely the more seedy part of Paris. It was OK, but not really what I think of when I think of Paris, except for the Moulin, and we can walk to that from our hotel - as we did to see the show Feerie.
So enjoyed it. We had better seats than the last time we went. Of course I got into trouble for taking photos - even before the show started. Great show. We are sooo lucky to have been to see it twice. The magician was awesome and the roller-skaters so talented.
We stopped at a little bar on the way home to find a very friendly hostess. Imagine our surprise when the music began and the host and all of the girl customers, including one with a broken leg with crutches, got up on the bar and started dancing...
We declined...
