Another island ruled by sea lions :). As we came into the stunning bay we could see around 20 white tip reef sharks swimming around the dinghy! The sea lions were still swimming around in the water too, unfazed by the sharks who just eat small fish. There were so many entertaining sea lions on the white sand beach, some cuddled up sleeping and other curious ones coming at us from the sea. We scrambled over the volcanic rocks of Isla Lobos - a tiny island full with sea lions and different birds nesting. We hopped off the dinghy initially to find the path blocked by a young sea lion who didn't want to move. We saw lots of blue footed boobies - one nesting on two eggs which he kindly showed us. In the afternoon we snorkelled off the dinghy and were lucky enough to see a marine iguana a couple of meters down indulging on the algae. There were lots of bright colourful fish of all sizes and one huge male turtle floating about. Coming to the end of the island we saw another huge marine iguana watching him float back up and swim to the island to sunbathe on the rock - the tour guide said this is the only time he has ever seen 2 iguanas while snorkelling ther...

In the morning we headed to the interpretation centre to learn about the history of the Islands - how they were formed from the connection of 3 tectonic plates. The exhibition highlighted lots of the current problems they face today including having enough water, food, protection from pests coming to the islands and the effects of tourism. In the afternoon we went snorkelling off the dinghy where we saw about 10 sea lions. They were jumping in and out of the water, diving down, doing flips and swimming close to us. They were very interactive with our tour guide who was very good at acting like one of them. We then headed onto the beach where loads of sea lions were sun bathing and sleeping.
