16:55 - I am resting as ordered by the doctor. This morning we went on a little excursion to Saqsaywaman here in Cusco and saw some Inca remains. Nice weather for it! It kept raining every 10 minutes!!! Not much actually REMAINS as the Spanish did their best to obliterate the existance of Inca temples. Amongst them on top of a hill there is also the Cristo Blanco, a present from the palestines. It is here that in 1988 Pope John Paul II came. We then drove back to Cusco and went to see the temple of the Sun, now the church of Santo Domingo. It is only thanks to an earthquake in 1950 that in rebuilding the church it was suggested that the inca walls remaining were to be put in plain view. After that Matthew and Harriet split and the rest of us had lunch in a cafè in the main square. Nice view and decent food. The afternoon was free so I took the opportunity to take my shoulder looked at in one of the private clinics. As Sally was due to look in on a woman who had broken her foot and was being treated in the same hospital, she came with me and then let me get on with being seen by one of the docs. Got an antiflammatory injection, some pills and advice to try and rest as much as possible. Tomorrow we go off to the sacred valley and then on to Machu Picchu. As for tonight, we are having dinner in a place that specialises in guinea pig...but fortunately not only that...as Chris was keen on trying this local delicacy.
