22:00 - We left Pucon early this morning on a public bus in the direction of Puerto Varas on lake Llanquihue (one of the largest lakes in south America). We arrived a little earlier than normal and after dropping off our luggage at the hotel we went for a quick empanada and then onto the Vincent Perez Rosale national park to see some rapids/falls. Water on water as it has rained all day long unfortunately. It would have been a lot prettier in the sun I'm sure.
Toby as usual didn't say much. What we are missing is someone to put what we see in some sort of context. We are being taken from A to B and left to wonder for a set amount of time. If I'd wanted to walk around knowing nothing about the place, I could have done it by myself!!! If we were to put Sally at one end of the scale in knowledge and enthusiasm, unfortunately Toby would be right at the other end!
We then came back to the hotel and met at 10 to 7 for a briefing on tomorrow's trip and then going for dinner. We ate at Las Buenas Brasas, a restaurant that excels in fish. Food was great and on the menu the Mango sour that I had tried in San Pedro de Atacama had reappeared so I gave it another go (still tastes good :-) ).
We leave tomorrow morning at 8 and won't come back until 11sh at night. It promises to be a great trip to Chiloè. Toby is not coming with us but we will have a local guide.
PS We are on day 6 and Sunitta still has not attended a single dinner with the rest of the group. However she has booked Machu Picchu but we have heard on the news that there are torrential rains and landslides around those parts...ooops!
