22:15 - Travelling today. We were to set off at 12.30 for El Calafate airport to fly to Ushuaia...the end of the world in tierra del fuego. I got up relatively late and after packing up went for a walk with Linda, Peter, Karen and Tina towards the visitors centre. As the sky was blu I was hoping to see mount Fitzroy in its full glory. Alas, by the time we got to the opposite end of town, there was a cloud over the tip of it and it would not budge! We then took our minibus to the airport stopping for a break at La Leona (the Butch Cassidy place) as it was a 3 hour transfer. The flight was on time so we landed in Ushuaia at arount 7 and by 7.30 we were in our home for the next three nights. The landing was pretty spectacular as the path is through the bay with the snowy peaks of the mountains all around you. We then met for dinner at 8 and ate at Chicos. Speciality fish! The crab was pretty great and for the first time on the Nandu, the food was delivered within 20 minutes of ordering...amazing!!!
The oldies are generally a pain in the butt now...a lot of conplaining and even I have to admit that they are being more than a little unfair to Toby. I'll be the first to say he's at times not the most organised person in the world, but he has done what his job requires him to do and he is a lovely guy. Graham also made a point of asking me why I changed seats on the transfer bus from the airport (Sunitta wanted to sit next to me but as we had a bigger bus I wanted to sit on my own and she suffers from car sickness), presumably because his wife had asked him to find out and they wanted to chalk up more stuff against her. Sunitta is not a bad person...a pain in the arse at times, lives in her own world most of the time, but nor purposefully nasty! There are people on this trip that are purposefully unpleasant...and it's not a good thing.
Going back to the trip, I should also mention that the temperature has dropped significantly and it is now very very cold! Tomorrow we have a three hour walk, not so bad and a visit to the southern most post office in the world...
