19:00 - We had a city tour of Buenos Aires today. It's funny how even though I had only been here for 3 days, it feels familiar. We all met at 9 and Marina took us around the highlights of the city. I had seen most of them on my first visit here about a month ago but it was nice to have a different view and an argentinian view at that. By 1pm we were back at the hotel and free for the afternoon. After we'd arranged with Toby when to meet for tonight's dinner and tango, the group split up and me and Peter, Tina and Karen went for something to eat in a cafè and then down to Puerto Madero to a see a private art collection on display. Marina had said during the trip that it had some of the best argentinian work. As it turned out, there was also a Turner, a couple of Picasso's etc. We then made our way back so that we'd have a couple of hours of relax before the evening out. It will be a late night by our normal standards as if it is anything like last time, it won't finish before midninght. I'm off for a shower now. Lateeeeer!
00:55 - Tango night at the Cafè des Angelitos was ok, but I have to say that being made to pay 10% service charge on what already is a pretty high price for the show, was excessive. You pay service charge on the meal! Not on the show!!! 143 US Dollars in total. Still, the meal was pretty nice and the show also. The only participants were the ones known as the 'young ones' as the oldies all pulled out. Toby came with us and about half way through the meal as he was telling me what a great group we had been, I had to point out that he had nearly had a mutiny on his hands about half way through the tour as half the group had turned nasty towards Sunitta! Therefore, I doubt he even realised that most of us had gripes with the way he led the group! Still, we're putting together a tip and given some of the sentiments running a little excessively negative, me and the terrible threesome are doing our own envelope and leaving the others to sort out what they want to give. We did buy a card to be signed by everyone this afternoon when we were in Boca. Sunitta joined us just for the show but ended up moving away from us about half way through as she was obstructing Peter's view. David seemed to be in a strop and did not utter a single word throughout the night. We did find out at the end of the show that he really didn't want to be there and they only came because if Linda's insistence. I'm off to Punta del Este for the day tomorrow and I have anticipated my evening return so as to be able to have my last dinner with this group...and if the truth be told, only because I wanted to be able to have one last night with the people I actually got on with: Tina, Peter and Karen. Sunitta has just confirmed to me she's on my flight to Iguazu and she wants to scrounge a lift to the airport from me! I thought I had seen the last of her but she's very hard to shrug off. Well, I'd better get some sleep as I have an early start.
