My last blog entry was written just after we had finished our skydiving up in Mission Beach. We had a cracking night after that. We met Lucy and Laura and went to the Scotty's Beach House Bar where there was a pool tournament and free champagne for the girls. That was good fun, none of us won the tournie and we had an early start the next day cause we had to drive down to Townsville and stop at the waterfall on the way. We headed off the next day as early as possible. The drive to Wallaman falls took a very long time but we ended up getting there just after midday. The waterfall is the highest is Australia and it was so beautiful. We decided to make the climb down and swim in the pool at the bottom. It was so cool and incredibly messy. It was so late by the time this was all done we ended up having to stay the night in Ingham which is about 100km from Townsville. We picked up a Subway and then just tried to fit five us in their campervan which turned out very difficult. The police also found us at about midnight and started questionning us on how we fit so many people in the van. Its illegal for us three to ride in the back cause there are no seatbelts, no one ever gets in trouble but after the police attention we thought we would get the bus the next morning and not risk the girls having their licenses taken from them. We got to Townsville that day and just chilled out till the evening. We wanted to attend the Full Moon party on Magnetic Island but we had booked our Whitsundays trip for the next day and didn't wanna risk missing our booking and losing a lot of money. So instead we had a night out in Townsville which has great night-life because of the high student population. Me and Pierre still don't have jeans and Pat found some old trousers in the room when we got to Townsville. So Me and Pierre didnt get into the main club cause we were wearing shorts, Pat partied till 5am and we were both very jealous.
The next day we got the bus down to Airlie Beach ready for our Whitsundays sailing adventure. We booked into Magnums and just checked out the area and had an easy night cause it was like 7am start for the sailing. We were on the Mattador with 30 or so people, 25 of them sleeping on the boat with us, it was two nights and three days. We sailed out to the islands on the first day and had our free scuba dive, the visibility was crap but we saw a very dirty turtle which was nice. The weather cleared up a bit and we went to our night-spot and watched a very nice sunset. The engine had broke as well so took us a while to get to the spot. When the engine was up and running we had Spag Bol for tea and starting drinking and playing games. That was a great night with the highligh being treated to the soulja boy dance by a Canadian guy we had met. The next morning we went to Whitehaven beach, on the pictures thats the one with us at the lookout. Last five years it has been rated as one of the top three beaches in the world. The sand was so soft, we had a game of beach cricket. After this we went to a great snorkelling sight and had some lunch. The sail ripped at some point during the day so we had to use the engine which sucked. That night we watched the sunset again and drank just as much, we were all really tired though and drained from the sun so no one lasted as long as the night before. The next day we had the sail fixed and headed to another snorkelling sight. We saw a reef shark and fed these huge Bat-fish off the boat. Then we sailed all the way back to the harbour, proper like racing sailing with the boat tipped other to one side style. The whole trip was wicked and we made loadsa great friends. Another thing to add, we had four guys from Guernsey on our trip which was probs the most unlikely thing ever. The night after we got back we met all the crew and people from the boat, there were loadsa free beer jugs and we had a box of goon between us three and two other guys from the boat. We went to Mama Africa's which is like the main nite club and we had a great night overall. The next day we just chilled at Airlie but the lagoon, I finished reading His Dark Materials, Whoop! That night we took it easy as well cause we had to get the bus the next day.
The next day we headed down to Hervey Bay for our Fraser Island adventure. Nothing happend that night, the next morning we were put into our groups ofr our 4WD drive adventure on Fraser Island. We ended up going with two Canadian girls we met on the bus to Hervey, an Irish couple we met on Whitsundays and two random Italians. We had the best group ever, the whole weekend was just hilarious. After a short shopping trip and packing our jeep with gear we headed out to the harbour to get the barge to Fraser. Fraser is just made of sand and there is loads to do. The first day we went to Lake Mckenzie which is just the most gorgeous lake ever, literally cyrstal clear water and really long beach. We spent the afternoon here and then drove to the beach. All the inland tracks are tiny tracks you can't drive on unless you have 4WD. We drove up the beach to our campsite, you can camp pretty much anywhere along the beach and we found a great spot to ourselves and set up camp. That night we had pasta for tea and started getting through our many boxes of goon. We played Ring of fire and just listened to music and enjoyed wat is undoubtedly the brightest stars I have ever seen. The second day we drove to Indian Head and climbed and got some great pics. We also saw Manta Rays and dolphins from the top of Indian Head. After this we went for a swim in the Champagne pools. You can't swim in the sea because its a tiger shark breeding area, however the pools are created by the tide passing over rocks and making a safe place to swim in what is basically a really big rock pool. On the back down the beach we stopped at Eli creek and went for a swim and did some skimboarding which was wicked. We also stopped at the Maheno shipwreck. That night we set up camp and had Green curry for tea. Drank the rest of our booze and just acted sutpidly. We forgot the tents and just slept under the stars which was also sooo cool! The next day we went to Lake Wabby, there is a massive steep slope leading down to Lake so we did some jumping, made a ledge to jump off, also borrowed some ones boogie board and that was wicked. After that we went to Lake Mckenzie again for a swim and then we had to head back to the harbour to catch the barge. Later on that evening we signed up for the all you can eat pizza deal, stuffed our faces and then watched a DVD and went to bed. Its 1:14pm now and we are just gonna chill today and sort out laundry etc.
Tomorrow we head to Brisbane, we are gonna stay with Pats cousin for free which will be much money saved and also we will be meeting Dec and Sam from Cambodia, its Sam 21st on May 3rd and that will be the highlight no doubt. Hope everyone is well and spk soon, Ryan x
