Hi all! I keep creating daunting tasks for myself my leaving my blog for ages, I now have about two weeks worth of activites to inform everyone about. I should be correct in saying that my last entry was completed either on our first day in Brisbane or when leaving Hervey Bay, either way we arrived in Brisbane two days after our Fraser Island adventure which was just immense. We walked to Pat's cousin flat which was about 10 minutes walk from the CBD. The flat was awesome, 42" plasma with Wii and Xbox 360, lol. We bummed around for the first day, making the most of the apartments ammenities i.e. cleaning ourselves in a good shower. That evening Pat's cousin purchased us all Domino's pizza's which was very kind and tasty. Our main plan for Brissy was a friend's 21st and we needed smart clothes so the following day and we went out for a big spending spree, I got jeans, smart shoes and two tops. That evening Declan took us out, Dec being the other friend we met in Cambodia and Thailand. It was five drinks for 10 bucks in the local student union so we made the most of that and then just went to a club. the next day involved more chilling out and then in the evening we went out with Pat's cousin, his girlfriend and the three other guys from the apartment, that night we found out how tight Brisbane clubs are with clothing, which was a great lesson learn't, my highlight of the nite was a fantastic steak sandwich. The next day Nick (Pat's cousin) and his girlfriend Lauren took us out to the city lookout where we got some great views and then we checked out the observatory, we also had a lunch at the lookout. That evening we had Sam's 21st which was absolutely loose! They had a $2500 bar tab and I lost track as to how much alcholol i consumed, lol. We went to the Port House and just danced stupidly until the sun came up, was wicked. The next day involved more chilling and then in the evening we had pizza with everyone in the flat and watched some movies. The next day was bank holiday and Nick and Lauren took us to the river where there was a Buddhist festival, we then took the City Cat (boat), all the way up the river which was a great way to see the city. That night we met both Sam and Dec for some pool and drinks. The next day we were supposed to go to Steve Irwin's zoo but we are to god damn lazy and couldn't be bothered to get out of bed, so me and Pat went shopping again and then in the evening we went to the driving range and did some Putt Putt. On our last day in Brisbane we had a lovely meal in the flat, some great Spag Bol, Nick put honey in it and it tasted awesome, lol. Then we went bowling which was great fun. We got Nick and Lauren some booze to say thank you for their hospitality, they were very kind to us. We left the next day for Surfers Paradise.
The train to Surfers Paradise was a laugh, there were some bogans (chav's), on the train playing loud rap music, was very funny. Surfers was not as I expected, it looked like Vegas. We met Laura and Lucy there and after finding accomodation we went to the beach with them and then got drunk in there campervan and hit the town, the nite life was great fun, $3 champagne's, they will get you. The next day we chilled out by the pool at our hostel, tried to regain our tan, that nite we just hired a DVD. There isn't anything to do in Surfers, I know that now. Sam, who's 21st it was, came down to Surfers and picked us up and came to Byron with us which was great fun. Byron Bay is like backpacker central, one road, nite club at one end, beach at the over. We stayed there about 5 days. The first nite and the second we treated Sam to Guernsey drinking games. Cheeky Monkeys is the Aussie famous nite club in Byron and we were there most nites. Byron involved a lot of beach during the day and then camp fire after party's on the beach as well. The only interesting thing we did except party was do a 3 hour surfing lesson with this random dude who claimed he was a pro. It was great fun and we all got to stand up many times. I also walked to the Byron Beach lookout and found this surfing spot where there were literally like 100 people surfing and some were immense. We also ate a lot of pizza, the beach was wicked though and thats all we did. After about 5 days we got the overnite train to Sydney which was a painful experience, probably got like 43 minutes sleep at the most. We got to Sydney nice and early, spent a while shopping around for hostels and ended up staying in the red light district, we assumed the whole area, known as Woolloomooloo was like this but we have now been told we are staying on strip club street, Pat definately feels at home, lol. The first day we caught up on sleep till Midday and then we went to the opera house and also booked our BridgeClimb, which I am very excited about. That night we went to The Gaff for a free backpacker meal which was sweet and then just carried on catching up on sleep, well that was the plan but then I ended up getting really drunk with Laura and playing pool, which was still cool. We did watch The Prestige though, cracking film if you have the chance to see it. The following day involved us spending like two hours trying to find and WickedCampervan headquarters. Finally got there and we booked our campervan for Tuesday which I am so excited about. We will have for the rest of our time in Aus, we get to drive the Great Ocean Road ourselves and drive to and camp at the Blue Mountains. That night there a BBQ and free wine on our rooftop bar so we did that and then finished our own goon. Went to the Gaff again with Lau and Luc and did a lot more drinking and watched Portsmouth WIN, I repeat, WIN, the FA Cup! I'm still so happy. I forgot to mention after the WickedCampervan escapade we took the ferry out to Manly Point for sunset, got cracking views of the bridge and the Sydney Opera House. Today we went to Bondi Beach with the girls and then went to the Bondi Mall and had some chinese food. Now I am writing this blog. Tomorrow we will get to climb Sydney Harbour Bridge and the next day we have a campervan so it is all kicking off. Apologies for typo's and when it comes to pictures we have gotten very lazy, we will put some up soon though, I promise. Hope you are all well, spk soon, Ryan!
