I finally arrived in Indonesia after a three hour flight and being delayed two hours. I felt like the only white person on the flight!! I went to Kuta beach and found a place to stay for 3 pound.
As Kuala Lumpur and Singapore were really expensive places to drink, I went out and got pissed on large bottles of bintang which were s*** nice. The next day I wanted to buy a couple of vests so I walked into a shop. Everywhere I have been when I have bought something, they usually start double the price then you haggle them down. In Bali I wanted 2 vests for 2.50 and he started at 30 pound, and takes s*** long to get them down, f***ing well annoying. After getting the vests I went to a travel shop to look inti going to look at a volcano called mount bromo. I asked how much it could cost for everything and he said 250. Ithought he meant rupee, so it was like 15 pound which sounded s*** good. He then paused and said, so in rupee thats 4 million. I couldnt f***ing believe it...I was so pissed off.
I spoke to a man at my guest house and he said that im better off doing it myself so I did. The next day I got a motorbike lift off a local, then got a ferry to java (another part of Indonesia) then got on a coach which dropped me of in the middle of knowhere! I asked a man which direction it was in, and walked in that direction. People kept beaping at me and waving as if they had never seen a foreigner before. After a thirty minute walk, I found a travel place and he organised me to go to the volcano, so I got on a cramped local bus. After fifteen hours i was there at last, s*** nackered.
I was actually sleeping on the vocano which was abit mad, and it was 0 degrees as we where so high up. On the way up, it was that steep, we done most of it in first gear in the van!! We had to be up at 3.30, to go by jeep, to the highest volcano to see the sunrise over mount bromo. I still have not seen a proper sunrise as it has always been cloudy, and once again it was f***ing cloudy. The view was unbelievable though and you could see the volcanos really good.
After that we went to mount bromo to climb it. There were locals following us trying to make us pay for a horse ride up the mountain. At first when I got to the top of bromo i was almost sick because of all of the smoke coming out of the volcano. Once it cleared though you could see right to the bottom of it. As we got back to where we stayed last night, I was in the mini bus waiting to go, and a lad said that he recognised me but I said I could not remember. He asked if I had been tubing and I said yes. It turns out I was listening to his Ipod on the slow boat into Laos and even went out one night with a big group and he was there. It was so random meeting somebody from Laos on the top of a volcano in Indonesia. On the way back to Bali, the bus drops people off quite regulary, and people get on and play the guitar, sing, play tambourines like some heroin addict did. he looked like a smack head versin of sloth. It got abit boring then all of a sudden a man got on with a boom box a microphone, and started playin a naughty tune and he was dancing aswell. I was loving it haha
When we got back to the ferry to go over to Bali, they were doing passport checks for some strange reason. They never did it on the way to the volcano so it was abit wierd. I never had my passport. I explained that my passport was back at my guest house and he let me go through and the metal detector went off and nobody checked me. As Matt from Laos showed him his passport he got quizzed about it and got his bag checked haha very fair!!
Met Matt and Wayne by the memorial of the 2005 bombing, and went out for 2-1 drinks, so worked out 75p a beer. Ended up getting s*** faced. Went surfing the next day. For a three hour lesson and to keep the board all day cost me nine pound which was really good. He showed me what to do but I just could not get into it and kept getting wiped out by waves. I tried for four hours. A lad next to me got up on his third go, I could not believe it the cheeky b******. After the four hours I finally got up on the board and surfed all of the way in. Its loads of fun but its hard work and as your tring to walk out you keep getting wiped out by waves. When I got back to the guest house I was covered in bruises, cuts, and my nipples were bleading. It was cloudy all day, and even rained a little bit too, but my face, neck, shoulders, and upper arms were completely sunburnt.
I went from Kuta to the gili islands, which I heard lots of good things about. It took twelve hours which is a bit of a killer journey when your hungover to f***. When I got there, I realised that the only form of transport was by horse carriage, so me and a chuck norris lookalike shared a horse!! I went out with chuck norris that night and got f***ed.
The next day I found a place which has little boothes, and as long as you buy drinks and stuff you can watch dvds or play on the playsation. I ended up playing pro evolution with a local. He asked me if I was and good at football.. I said im not bad (felt like telling him the truth and saying im s*** good) then he asked me if I wanted to play in a game. It was the Trawangan island versus the mainland which was Lombok. I got my trainers and went down on the back of his bike. The field had two big goals and was full of goats, cows, chickens and ducks so we had to chase them off. I got given a kit and played. It was a really good game but I was completely f***ed after it. There was a bar which had a massive projector, like an open cinema so just chilled there that night and watched a couple of films. It took twelve hours back to Kuta in Bali, and I was flying out to Bangkok the next day.
