It's the world's most expensive cup of coffee - kopi luwak. In the US, a pound ranges from $100 to $800! Our little 60g jar of ground luwak coffee was $30; straight from the country it was grown. What exactly is it?
The process starts with pea berry trees. A little cat like creature, called a luwak, a common palm civet, loves to eat only the best coffee berries. The berries are then digestively transformed. Their poop is collected, roasted, shelled, ground, and brewed for this exotic coffee - kopi luwak. John said he could tell the difference between a regular blend and luwak. I hope so, especially since it costs 5x more! We bought some for family and friends, who fancy themselves coffee connoisseurs; they can sample some cat-poo-chino. John made a great food critic video while tasting kopi luwak!
