This could be my final blog from Kingsford. Yes that's right - after just 4 weeks i have been informed that my landlord is upping sticks, selling the house and booting me out on the street. He phoned me tonight: 'can you put the bins out and clean the bathroom Sam?' - 'can you go and jump off a cliff?' was the gist of my reply. To think that I was worried about getting more space in the fridge at the start of the week. I'm half way round the world, just about as far as can be from my family and friends and looking at finding my fourth home in less than 2 months. But it's not going to dampen my spirits and spoil my experience.
I've had a couple of great weekends down at Botany Bay. Hopefully the first of many great underwater experiences. I'm now a fully certified scuba diver. It still feels quite strange to think that I've been under 17 metres of sea water and spent 45 minutes without surfacing. When yu think of diving and Australia I guess you think of the great barrier reef. It surprised me just how much there was to see away from the reef, in a busy, cold, waterway. Even several (admittedly quite small) sharks. It's certainly an incredible experience and I can't wait to get back in the water but I wouldn't complain if someone turned up the heat a little bit - 14 degree water is quite nippy to swim in for so long even in a wetsuit.
Back on terra firma I've been hitting the bowing green a few times. Or, perhaps a bit more acurately, the ditches. First few practices went fine - getting most of my woods within a yard of the jack after a few ends. Then the pace picked up even more and the winds came. I'm never going to find an indoor green in the UK quick ever again after this. 4 weeks until uni games - I'd better get practicing if I'm not going to make a total fool of myself!
What do the weeks ahead hold for me? More bowls practices, law revue on Wednesday night, house hunting. Should really be getting on with some essays as well at some point. Counting down the days til my trip to Uluru. Not long now.
