There's no slow introduction to Venice when you arrive by train, as soon as you step out of the train station you are faced with the Grand Canal and the hive of activity that surrounds it; the water taxis, gondolas and many, many people! Armed with the directions to our hotel on google maps, we ventured into the maze of little streets. A mere hour on the train and we arrived in Florence! After a short walk, we found our little B&B - 6th floor with a lovely roof terrace with some pretty good views. As we were both super hungry (and slightly hungover) we headed out for a late lunch - pasta seemed to be the order of the day - to fuel us on a wander around the town. Unfortunately, after about half an hour, the camera (or more precisely, the lens) packs up…great. Both feeling a bit tired and...

We seem to be getting used to the longer train journeys now, so a 4 hour stint to Pisa was a walk in the park! We arrived early afternoon and immediately noticed the difference - Pisa was quiet!!
