Today was our one day in the city of canals, Venice. A crazy but exciting city. Getting lost is not just easy, its impossible not too. We arrived across the bridge to a line-up of the 5,000,000 tourists who visit Venice daily during the summer, and awaited our ferry to the island. The ferry ride was slow but offered great views. Once on the island a walking tour showed us the sites and talked about the history of this very important trading village.
Next we had time to explore and shop, I got very lost and wasted away the day exploring small side streets. At times I was the only person in sight (great!). Next we enjoyed a gondola ride with sparkling wine and saw a different view of Venice.
Dinner time! A five course Venetian dinner with wine. After the sparkling wine things were a bit roudy, the restaurants neighbors called in noise complaints. Boo.
A quick ferry ride home with the lights of Venice offering a great show in the distance.
