Today we had a great roundtrip around almost all of Isle of Skye!
We started the day departing from our amazing hostel, Skyewalker Hostel, at 10 am to really have time to get around the Island. We first went to Neist Point Lighthouse which is the most western point of Isle of Skye - amazing views with steep, steep cliffs straight down in the water! Really cool.
After Neist we started driving back towars Dunvegan to see the castle there, but ofcourse it startet rainging as soon as we sat down in the car, so our follower by bike - Matthijs - got pretty wet and also he couldn't see through the visor on his helmet. So instead we took a short fika-break and drove on.
Next we stopped at the Fairy glen, which was a lovely little pond surrounded by really odd-looking hills. So we had lunch there and just enjoyed the now returned sun along with the view.
After the lunch we continued to cross the northern part of Skye with a quick stop to see the Quiraing which is the northernmost summit of the Trotternish Ridge. Spectacular view once again! Followed that we stopped at the Old Man of Storr, which I sadly could not climb due to my tired knee.. but both Rebecca and the others said it was great, and from the pictures I've been shown I absolutely agree with them!
The last stop we had planned for our roundtrip was the "capital" on Skye - Portree. Portree was just a very, very small village by the sea. Not to much to see, but we managed to have a great dinner for Julia (delayed for her birthday) and also we managed to buy some cake mixture (secretly) that we had back at the hostel. Good cake, good friends, good evening!
Now we're dead tired and will probably fall asleep... luckily we have beds to sleep in - thank god!
Bye for now - Rikard
