Yesterday the spring had sprung and we were going on a daytrip. This daytrip was organised by my module Scottish Culture and Society and since they had some seats extra in the bus we were free to take our friends with us and of course I brought Rikard along! It was a bit of a risk taking since a lot of my classmates had expressed that they want to bring someone along but no worries, Rikard got a seat next to me.

Our first destination was a small village called Queesferry were you had a fantastic view of the Forth Rail Bridge. The story about it is quite funny, it took seven years to build but ten years to paint so they have a saying here in Scotland, 'Like painting Forth Rail Bridge' which means a never-ending task.

Next stop was Culross (pronounced Koo-ross) which was one of the ancient capitals of Scotland in the 15th century. It was so pretty and such a small village. We had done all the must-sees in an hour but we really liked it. We went up to the Culross Abbey at the end of Kirk Street to see the ruins and the view over Forth and then to the Culross Palace. And YES it is a palace even though it only looks like a yellow-painted house.

Our final stop was the Deanston Distillery. Here we had the opportunity to see how Whisky is made. Rikard liked it the most and we said during the whole tour that this is something that we have to tell our dads. We could even taste some of the 12 year old Whisky and I think it will take a long time for me to like the taste of this beverage. Almost like painting the Forth Rail Bridge!

We arrived in Edinburgh at five and Galadriel called and said she bought tickets for the musical Singin' in the rain for £10. PERFECT. Rikard said it was better I went wih the girls since he was not the biggest musical fan so me and Julia bought some tickets and we loved it! Best ending of a day full of new impressions!
