Its been a while...
Well sinse last start i have left the farm in stokke citing repetitive work, poor hospitality and urge to see more of Norway. I am now living with a young bloke Steinar and working on a farm (Bjørnstad) near a town caled Otta, about 2 hours north of Lillehammer in central Norway. The farm is really in the mountains, right next to Jotunheimen National Park, possibly Norways most pictureque and famous. There is still plenty of snow about up here on the higher peaks but the temps are warming up and there is light 24 hours a day. It may not be sunlight or idnight sun yet but there is no way you get lost in the dark even at 1 or 2 am.
The farm is majorly a dairy with 25 ilkers at the moment with a few more shortly. So milking twice a day and feeding the calves which is in the barn but they will all be outside shortly. There is also a couple of miniature pigs, chooks, ducks, geese, dogs, cats and rabbits. The farm is pretty run down form the previous owner so there is plenty of cleaning up, repairing and new projects on the go. There is also another exchnage working coming fromthe czech republic at the end of the month which should be good. Also been learning some more norwegian although my vocabulary atb the moment consists of a rather high proportion of dirty and inappropriate language.
I have been here 2 weeks now. On the first weekend we went for a drive over the Jotunheimen mountain range which was nothing short of spectacular. The snow there is still 3-4m deep despite entering the start of summer now. The photos of the trip dont do it justice. Onthe way i watched some kite skiing\boarding wich looks pretty cool to do. Steinar has been brilliant show me around the place. We are also right in the heart of white water rafting territory so we have atrip (6 hours) planned shortly down one of te local rivers. We are just waiting for some more snow to melt in the next few weeks to make the river even more insane, cant wait for that... reminds me of the chime!Seen a fox farm for furr and also moose or elk roaming around here pretty freely.
Will be here probably another month or two then to england to catch up with some people before going to eastern europe for a month then thailand and home, thats the plan for the next 3 minutes and then it will change again.
Dusty Travelers are now on fire and have responded from the minor hiccup to Inziman early doors. Now 6-1 record 3049 in the world. Hockey, well the Sabres lost eastern conference final, b*****, but solid effort in first season supporting them to make the last 4, havent jumped the bandwagon.
And for all of you gossip kings\queens out there Lisa is good and we are still together . She is in Canada and i am here which makes it hard. Thats about all i can tell you.
Bout all i got
Rock
