After meeting a couple of Americans that live in Beijing we set off to visit the lama temple..... which is the most beautiful example of a Buddhist temple in Beijing(to quote the tour guide)!!
We got off the subway and decided to try some local pancakes for breakfast..... They were DELICIOUS..... we'll definately be going back for some more of them!! While eating our pancakes we managed to somehow bump into a couple of Danish girls for the 3rd time in 3 days!!!! They gave us directions to the temple and we soon found it.
Inside there were hundreds of people burning incense sticks and worshipping buddha which was quite a sight. The temples were also pretty impressive but after having seen the buildings at the forbidden city and temple of heaven already they didnt exactly blow our socks off. The temples here, however, are still in use which did add to the experience. We managed to see a couple of monks and spin a prayer wheel or two but other than that there wasnt much more to see.......not 1 lama at all!!
We decided to venture back to the silk market to buy some ipod speakers and we were soon met with the now familiar cries of the locals sales' pitches..... by now we had our haggling skills down to a T and we soon bargained prices for speakers and other items we probably didnt need, but just couldnt resist at the prices we were paying. Oh... I nearly forgot to mention we kinda lost Dave on the way here... as u know by now the subway can get very crowded and he just didnt quite make it on.... see the videos for a better description.
For dinner we went to the same restaurant we dined at 2 days ago and all had some kind of beef noodle "treasures" dish which wasnt bad at all!! Not sure what the treasures were but we think one was squid and the other was fat!?
All in all a fairly quiet day today but we had a well needed rest ready for tomorrow!
