We wandered around the Saturday market at Apollo Bay and bought some local produce for our packed lunch. Our first stop was Melba Gully named after Dame Nellie Melba, this quiet spot was tourist free and not too many flies. A lovely wander around the forest and ferns.
In the afternoon we visited the Twelve Apostles which are in fact only nine now. They are large sandstone pillars in the sea. The cliffs are crumbling and you can see where the next pillars will be formed. I like the way Australians call a spade a spade as in the picture of the sign! The flies were particularly bad here as were the coaches of tourists. Tonight there was a mix up with our room booking, this is because the Internet hotel sites are not fully synchronised with the hotels. We have spent the evening on a farm just out of town. The owners family have lived here since it was created in the mid 19th century.
