16-17th august- party times in the Greek islands have come to an end for us, definately got to the point where we needed to leave haha we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Mykonos and iOS partying however our bodies learnt to hate it. It was the time of our lives ... Santorini and paros on the other hand i suggest are definates for anyone, the boat cruise in paros to antiparos alongside the Views in santorini are things that forever i will remember and i feel im speaking on behalf for ry as well !
The foods of Greece were fantastic including mousaka, stuffed tomatoes, rice filled vineleaves, saganaki, swordfish, fetta cheese, Greek salads, grilled squid octopus and of course the cheap gyros which is a souvlaki filled with chips ! Yum yum however not fantastic for the body image haha ! The drinks were mythos being the beer of choice and ozo being the shot of choice to be coupled with octopus usually as a chaser !
Now for the fun- the language- We tried to teach ourselves the language by playing a little game! Everytime we used the English equivalent of hello, thankyou, yes, no, cheers, good morning, good evening, sleep and friend - we had to Drop and do 10 pushups no matter where it was ! Being at dinner, in an alley way, in a shop ! It was a fantastic way to learn the basics !

The friends we made will be fantastic overseas contacts and friends forever with girls and boys from Quebec Canada, Chicago lake michigan, germany, Netherlands, Queensland, Adelaide, Melbourne, new zealand, London, Sydney, Scotland, spain and many other places ! A spanish girl Donna helped Ryan and I the entire ferry trip back to Athens drawing us maps and writing down foods of Barcelona and madrid, so generous and helpful.
We started with 4 and left iOS with 3 with chris picking up a job as a door man as he is running out of money ! The ferry from iOS left around 1 pm catching the vodafone high speed 6 ! An amazing craft they are! Getting back to Athens around 5pm in into pireus port, we then had to catch a train to amonia train station and change lines to the acropolis station! We scored a private apartment for 100 euro between 3 for the night... Ammaculate place ! Ryan and i had to arise at 3:45am catching the x95 bus to the airport... Gee there was some seedy men on this bus, funny enough the same 3 stooges that were on it when we first arrived in Athens ! However once we put on a tough act flexing our muscles we worked hard on before the trip they decided we wernt the easiest of targets haha !
The airport was so simple and straightforward to our relief at this hour of the morning, checking in well and truly in time for our flight and some duty free browsing. The sunrise behind the plane when boarding was an awesome sight !
This flight was roughly 3 hours into Rome then a transfer flight for 1 hour into genoa the main port city in Italy ! The first thing the flight attendant asked us was "are you going surfing haha" ! After this we caught the Vola bus from the airport to the main train station brignole fc then a regional train to riomaggiore. This train took the entire coastline from genoa the home
Of Christopher Columbus through Santa margarita which was pleasant to see the seaside, also listening to the Italian language is so relaxing ! It's such a fluent beautiful flowing language especially when the young kids use it !
One thing I have realised after catching about 4 flights now .. I really enjoy flying. The views are fantasic and free food on the plane goes down a treat ! Besides my melbourne to Abu dhabi flight due to food posioning which I have now found out the rest of the party goers from the party i was at the Saturday before I left had as well !
We will then need to catch a train from the airport in genoa to la spezia then another one into riomaggiore "the first of the 5 villages in the cinque terre national park" :) so excited for this stop ! (Cinque in italian mean 5- hence the 5 villages)
Snorkeling, boat trips, booking classes and canoeing all planned, with a great b & b accommodation. Could life get better right now ? I would have to say no !
We arrived at our accomodation in riomaggiore the first of the 5 villages along the coastline ! It's a cute little bed and breakfast, free breakie woohoo ! The hill climb to reach this place is insane as it is all built upon a giant hillside village. Ryan and I settled in, dining for a late lunch at la lampara ! We know how to fine dine for a decent euro ;) seafood spaghetti and penne with smoked salmon. After this I wandered down to the marina while ry caught up on some sleep. I can safely say I'm in my element here hands down an amazing place ! Little old buildings with green shutter windows, multiple colored buildings and a seaside where all the locals gather and lay on the rocks, old boat ramp beneath the cliffs, gelato shops and restaurants ! floating around in the crystal waters of the lingurian sea I love this place.
Photos are to come !
More to come about cinque terre plus photos from iOS xo much love
