Today I traveled to a whole new place, I traveled to Kyoto Japan!
Did you know that Kyoto used to be called Heian-kyo then a while after they called it Kioto then it became Kyoto. Kyoto is also very religious, there are so many temples. Kyoto has about 2000 temples and shrines. Shrines are very religious places. I went into some of the temples and one temple well I think it was actually a shrine but anyway, it had about 10,000 gates! Most off them were red and the closer you get to the top off the mountain the smaller they get! When we finished the temple hike around the mountain and through the thousands of gates we were really hungry. Then I saw a man selling cake fish you could put stuff into. We got one and the more you ate the better it got! First there was whipped cream then frosted flakes then the best thing came- the Boston cream- I thought it was so good you would really like it! We also went to another temple and meditated. I thought it was hard because it was really early in the morning and I just wanted to go to sleep. But I survived for the first 20 minutes of meditating then we had a break and got to see what a tea ceremony looks like and a Zen garden. Then we went back and did it for 5 minutes I thought it was a really great exzperience!
I thought Kyoto was very nice but there was one problem, it was very expensive to do laundry in our hotel so we found a place out in the town and set on our way to find it. Then after a very long walk we finally found it but the bad thing was it was coin laundry and we can't take all of our time up by doing that, we only have a short time here. The next day we man up and do it but if you are in Kyoto you might want to be prepared for anything! In Kyoto I also went to karaoke that was really fun. We got our own private room. Did you know that in Japan they love karaoke, like a lot!
Sadly now I have to leave Kyoto (crying face here)
I know that I will definitely miss Kyoto and all the temples we went to and I was really surprised because they allow bikes on the sidewalk! Anyway I will really miss Kyoto! Now we go to Tokyo! I can't because we are having a little splurge there!

Heather Assignment: Try to learn about the Kyoto Treaty -- the Kyoto Protocol--and why it is so very important for our world! ;----))))
Gran Gautney Rosie, What a girl! Cream cakes, meditation, and karaoke, all in one morning!! What varied and wonderful experiences you are having. Aunt Heather's question is a very salient one. It has come up in my course on Indians and Climate Change.
