Hey all,
Thought we would start our blog off. After our long flight which went across Greenland and Canada and then down across America, we managed to get a fairly reasonably priced hummer taxi home. The ghetto rap music combined with the 80mph lane swerving really gave us a gentle welcome to ciudad de mexico. We drove through some lovely neighbourhoods and caught glimpses of some friendly looking gangs, and were really relieved to find our hostel door had no lock )the door lock you gave us came in handy straight away mum). Seriously though, once we saw the place in the morning we were much more impressed, and the weather today has been amazing.
The altitude definately has an effect, because we are so tired and sore, but that could also be due to some jetlag. We woke up early for breakfast, which was so nice. Loads of fresh fruit, cereals, nice bread rolls, pancakes, tea, coffee and eggs. There was so much, and it was all you can eat, so we filled up well. We walked around the historic centre and then got the 10pence metro across the city to a big park. There we went on pedalos and went to the zoo, just to embrace the tourist way of life. It was so hot and humid and so we hopped back to the hostel to cool down and get some more water. Just planning to chill out this afternoon and sunbathe in some hammocks!
Then off to Cancun first thing tomorrow morning, where we can have a dip in the caribbean!
Check soon for more updates...
ps...shame for newcastle losing to sunderland. haha
