We got back to L.A late after a 9 hour journey due to traffic and transfers back from Vegas...that wasn't fun. We decided on a different hostel so we checked in at Orbit on Melrose Ave and was pretty speechless, we got showed to our room and it was a tiny room with 3 bunkbeds crammed in and smelt a little funky but we had no choice really! the next morning we went down to the grove which is a posh little shopping area and the famous farmers market whhich was full of nice little food stalls. the weather had brightened up by then so we headed down to santa monica beach which is where we spent the most of our second week as there's not much else to do in L.A when your on a budget! the next day was halloween and we didnt have costumes so we set off on a mission to find a costume. we went to a k-mart and the only costumes left were the reject ones such as a bottle of ketchup, i joked to andrew saying that he should get it so he did, but only on 1 condition........if i went as a bottle of mustard. so we did. that night there was a party in our hostel which we went to, we had a few beers and carved our first jack o lantern and it was quite a good effort! Since the americans love halloween so much they arrange a huge street party (the biggest halloween street party in the world) on santa monica boulevard so we went there after the hostel party and we have never got so much attention in our lives. everyone thought it was an amazing idea to go as ketchup and mustard and people kept stopping us in the street for pictures...we felt like celebs ha. the next day we chilled out for most of the day after a little walk down the sunset strip our last few days were spent down at the beach where we saw some dolphins and did a spot of sunbathing. we thought we couldnt leave L.A without seeing some celebrities so we heard about some film premieres down at the chinese theater and went to check them out, it turned out there wasn;t many big stars there but we did see Bill Murray and a few other little celebs. we left L.A on the 4th Nov. next stop New Zealand.
