After an amazingly relaxing and much needed night of the booze in River Valley we headed onto our lost stop in the South Island & the capital of New Zealand- Wellington. It was halloween but as we had already gone our big halloween celebration we didnt really go a lot for it, had a trip to dominos and headed down to the hostel bar where we had a couple of jagers- the halloween celebrations from the night before had kind of killed me off of jager but when in rome! Kind of had an early night and had a massive lay in the next morning which was amazing after all the early starts to get on the bus, think I stayed in bed untill about 1pm! When I finally got up, met the girls and we went on a little adventure around Welly where we went on a big red tram (in the picture) up to the viewpoint. We ended up finding a kids playground and kept ourselves entertained on that for about an hour before wondering around the gardens and finally ended back at base. I had another quiet night, going to bed after a couple of drinks but the girls decided they needed a wild night and so off they went. We had to be on the bus very early the next morning in order to catch the early morning ferry.. I was fresh as a daisy and it was hilarious seeing the girls hanging the next day- they hadn't gone to bed where they'd ended up in a strip club all night! They crashed and burnt on the ferry, literally they skattered themselves around on the floor where they passed out for the entire journey, not that it was overly interesting. I was just sat with Lucy, Max & Matt and the most exciting moment was me getting ketchup in my face- basically I'd gone to the cafe area to get chicken nuggets and obviously had ketchup with the nuggets..standard. But it was this wierd crazy little sachet which I couldnt work out how to use, eventually I realised how it opened and cracked the pot which then concluded in ketchup literally all over my face. Was one of those incredibly embarrising/ amazingly funny moments which I couldn't live down but hey, at least I provided entertainment for the journey! Unfortunatly it was really rainy because apartley the sceanery on the trip is really beautiful but we couldn't see more than like a metre in front of us. The journey felt like forever so was so happy when we finally docked in!
WELLY!!! To be honest, wasn't a huge fan of Welly.. It was a nice town and had a few interesting bits and bobs but compared to other places it was average. Arrived quite late so typically we all went and got a dominos! Took it to the room and guzzeled it down with a glass of wine or 2, then we went down to the hostel bar as it was halloween. Obviously we had done our halloween night already so didn't go big but had a rather pleasent evening and headed to bed about 2.
Best bit of the day- I had a lie in... YAY! Once I managed to pull myself out of bed me and the girls decided to go up Mt Victoria which has really nice views of the city and a bocanical gardens at the top. We got a nice little red tram up to the top and had a look round and it was very pretty..Then we found the PARK! We had an epic time playing on the zip wire and this weird tire swing thing we discovered, we were literally there for like 40 minutes playing like little kids. After we pulled ourselves away we found some ducks and then headed back. That night also wasn't exceedingly exciting- all of us (except the girls) went to bed early because we had a ferry to get on at 7am the next morning.
Paaa.. How smug I felt. The girls got in at 7am in the morning and were hanging like HELL when they got on the bus. Once we got on the ferry they literally passed out and I love them to bits but so glad I hadn't joined them! Instead I sat with Max, read my book for a bit and then Lucy and Matt appeared so we decided to get a cider and some food.. Worst decision ever. I went for my classic chicken nuggets and had a little ketchup pot, but I couldn't work out how to open it because it didn't just peel back like I assumed it would. So I asked Matt and he explained you had to push the 2 ends together and it comes out- well this is me isn't it. Holding the packet right in my face I did as I was instucted. Ketchup ALL OVER THE FACE!!!! So embarrising but by this point, everyone knows what I'm like so it was 'classic roz'. The rest of the trip went very smoothly after that and we were soon off the ferry and onto the bus. A few hours later we arrived in Kaiterikeri...
