Yo! Back in Sydney now, as we enter the final leg of our Australian adventure... only 9 days to go and we're already bracing ourselves for the freezing temperatures we're going to encounter in Beijing. I figure that if i wear everything i've got packed in my rucksack, then i might be able to save a few of my fingers and toes...
Really enjoyed our 15 days with the camper van.. I deliberately use the word "with" here, rather than "in" given that we probably only spent half the nights "in" the thing and the rest with friends or in free rooms at the Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza! I don't think it was deliberate, but after the spider incident we just didn't have the same appetite for camping out as we did in the beginning!!!
The highlight of the trip was probably Wilson's Promontary in South Victoria... simply stunning, but there were lots of great bits to enjoy, like the deserted beaches and the views and scenery and the over-whelming sense of freedom you get from owning the road and being masters of your own destiny (losing it now...)!!!
We will always remember the Jackie Chan Deluxe camper with air-con and power steering with affection... RIP (Rest in Parking lot) Jackie...
So it was back to Flashpacking in some style last night as Tom got us tickets for the Galaxy v Sydney game and we got to witness Becksmania at first hand! The whole country has talked about little else for the last week or so (apart from the General election of course), so it was great to be amongst the 80k people in the stadium last night. Highlight was David's free-kick (which i've posted on our videos!)... not least because Tom managed to miss it as he was on a beer run - hilarious! He didn't even believe he'd scored until i showed him it on the camera!
And just when you thought things couldn't get any better, just as we were about to buy the last remaining tickets for Elton John tonight, Tom came through with some free ones in the MTV box, so we're off for complimentary fish and chips and beers tonight all being well before enjoying the Rocket Man himself!
Heading out to the Blue Mountains tomorrow for a couple of nights... it's supposed to be amazing, then we've got a few days on the beach at Coogee before our last 2 nights back in Sydney on the 5th and 6th...
Plenty of great photos to add when i get chance in the next few days... particularly of the koalas at the Sydney Wildlife Centre!
