So from Muang Khua we were heading to Luang Prabang, we decided to stay with the group we were with as it made the travelling entertaining and we didn't know what the buses would be like. We got a minibus to Udomxai and then unfortunately the next bus was full, so we had to wait around for 4 hours to get the next one. We finally arrived in Luang Prabang and we searched for a cheap hotel with the group we were travelling with. Most of the hotels here were full or expensive but as there were lots of us we managed to haggle the price down for a nice room and it had carpet.
A few weeks before some friends had explained about traveller type A and traveller type B. B usually being the younger ones who travel to drink and party and A who go to experience the culture. Our new friends were definitely type B's and wanted to head straight out and get hammered. After some food we headed to the first bar and got a few vodka red bulls down us but they closed the bar at 11 o'clock. Laos has a curfew where everyone has to be at home by midnight so the bars and restaurants close in time for people to get home. In Luang Prabang they have a bowling alley that manages to stay open until 2 so we all jumped in a tuk tuk and headed there.
Olly and Sophie were also in Luang Prabang and we managed to message them. When we arrived at the bowling alley they pulled in behind us in another tuk tuk. The bowling alley was a different experience, it was like a school disco, you could only by drinks by the bottle so we grouped together and bought some vodka. It was a great night but a little cringy, a bit like a nightclub with the lights on. Bowling was a lot of fun, even when doing it bare footed!
We had a fry up the following morning to sooth our hangovers and met with Olly and Soph. We took a walk around the town, its only small but has some beautifull old buildings and temples which are spread around a big hill in the centre. We then headed to La Pistoche, a bar with swimming pools and loungers. We relaxed there before heading back in to town to look round the market and have some street food; pork and leak dumplings with an amazing bean sauce.
Luang Prabang is a lovely town with an amazing night market and lots of character.
