The town was blanketed in thick fog this morning. Our first mission of the day was to do some desperately needed washing. We found there were 2 laundromats pretty close to the hotel. At one point we had to cross a bridge & visibility was so low we had no idea what was coming over the rise. It didn't snow overnight but there was still plenty of snow & ice lying. Thank goodness for all wheel drive!
We passed a cemetery on the way back from doing the washing & stopped as it looked so beautiful. A path had been cleared so we could walk around without being disrespectful. It was so peaceful, completely covered in white.
We bought some battery operated Christmas lights & stickers for the car. We bought a big red bow for the front grille but can't get it on. We might have to buy one string. Lots of trucks passed us yesterday with wreaths on their grilles so we might get one of those.
There is a large park at the bottom of Main St called Lithia Park. We walked down there this afternoon because we had read there were deers in the park. The park was covered in icy snow, pretty deep at times, and looked so pretty. We came to the duck pond which was almost completely frozen over. There was one little patch of water which some ducks were in & out of. There was another duck just sitting on the ice. Across the road there was an ice rink. For $4 you can skate for as long as you like from 11am - 5.30pm. Skate hire was only $2.50. There were little kids whizzing around with no fear. They had probably been on ice since they could walk.
A little bit further on we came across the deer. There were 6 or 7 of them nibbling on the little patches of grass that hadn't yet been covered in snow. I wonder what they do when there is no grass left? They were pretty happy to let us get relatively close.
We spent the rest of the afternoon looking at the various boutiques & emporiums in town.
We had dinner in the hotel restaurant tonight. What a treat to wear something other than snow boots! It was a delicious meal & the restaurant specifically uses local produce. Now we are watching A Country Christmas with all the different country music artists performing. Perfect evening!
