Day 13: Woke up to the kooka chorus, which is not particularly pleasant! As we are on a pretty good campsite and fancy a day of not driving we decide to stay a second night which gives us chance to check out the caves and some local bush walks.
We went into the Royal Cave at Buchan. Of the two that are open this one is apparently slightly larger with less stooping required. The caves are like the limestone caves in the uk cut through the rock by a long gone underground river. The water now creating stalactites and stalagmites and some really cool calcite formations. The caves were pretty big and the section we walked through extended about 450m, the whole system extending over 3km.
After the caves we made a picnic lunch and headed out for a stroll. Out above the camp the walking was pleasant, but the waterfall we walked to was a mere trickle and not the cascade we had seen pictures of. As thunder started to rumble around the hills we cut back to the camp to shelter before the rain became heavy.
Rest of the day has been washed out somewhat, but we've made plans for tomorrow, and are ready to tackle the Great Alpine Road!
