Day 5: We opted for an easy day of sight-seeing today. First to Kangeroo Valley via some winding mountain roads. This was a tough trip for Buddy but he handled it well, although he did need to pull in occasionally to let the faster traffic go past! We went through the valley to Fitzroy Falls. Day 4: big drive done successfully today! Started today with a visit to the lighthouse at Seal Rocks. It was very similar to Smoky Cape and located on some stunning cliffs. The view wasn't quite as good, perhaps because the sun wasn't shining. Our drive south the began. Gareth did the first section over the gravel road and onto the freeway. Caroline then did a long stretch to take us to the outskirts of Newcastle, then back over to Gareth to battle the traffic...

Day 3, and we've discovered that we're really popular with Australian nature. Not because of our easy wit and general joie de vivre, but because our soft white English flesh is so tasty that the pesky little bugs can't stop munching us. Today has therefore been spent trying to resist the temptation to scratch not helped by the fact that for most of the day it has been stinking hot. We've had a good day none the less, starting leisurely with a stroll on the beach...

Day 2 and we've put over 600 km on the clock, but more importantly it really feels like we're away from the city. Camped at South West Rocks on a remote national park campground. What this place lacks in facilities it makes up for with views, with a long sandy beach and Smoky Cape lighthouse above. I could get quite settled here on the beach watching the surf. Day 1 over and we're sat watching the sun set enjoying a chilled can of XXXX.
