Hi y'all... greetings from Cradle Mountain national park in Tasmania.. Just to catch up we've had a couple of days in Lauceston where we found a beautiful gorge with an outdoor swimming pool and went Handgliding !! then onto Davenport where we treated ourselves to a luxuary cabin complete with Spa Pool - not bad for smelly backpakers .... Cradle Mountain is a really beautiful place as you can see from the pictures - we've been really lucky with the weather in Tassie and this was no exception it was glorious !! We did the 7 km walk around Dove Lake at the bottom of the mountain and the views were amazing - it felt like we'd been transported back to The Inn On The Lake in the UK (our wedding venue). After our long walk we headed south to stay at Bronte Park near the Great Lakes - this was a really dodgy driving day as about 1/2 of it was on dirt tracks and the hire car took a bit of a battering. When we got to our accomodation in the Park we were both a bit nervous - it was a real scary redneck type of hotel/motel - like 'Twin Peaks' if any of you ever watched it ....anyway after one night we were keen as mustard to be on our way !!! We stopped off at Lake StClair on the way back which is the other side of the Cradle Mountain walk (80 km in total - a bit too far for us !!) All in all we've both loved our time in Tasmania and we're gonna be sad to be leaving - I think its because its so much like the UK and also its not too hot !! bye for now Rob and Shelley xxxxxxxxxxxxx
