Guess what the weather was like when we arrived here?! It has probably only stopped raining for a few hours in total since we've been here but this has still been an amazing place. Yangshuo is a small town, which you can walk around in around an hour taking in most of the sites. There's a lot of cafes and restaurants as well as shops and places to stay. But it's around Yangshuo you really get to see some sites.
Rob's been pretty busy here, doing a cycling tour of the surrounding countryside, a cooking class and a Kung Fu lesson. I've walked round quite a lot and we both went on a cruise along the River Li as it started to get dark. It was a great way to see some of the limestone kastes we've got carried away taking pictures of plus soak up local river life (taking your water buffalo for an evening dip, washing your dinner in the river etc).
We spent the last night here in a bar (M.C.Blues) with cheap cocktails and absolutely no Blues music. We made a new friend in the shape of a 10 yr old boy named Jo who wanted to practice his English and later, wipe the floor with me at cards. His English was better than ours, as was his knowledge on geography, world politics and partical physics. We believe at some point he will be running the country, if not the world.
The final night train awaits, then it's bright lights, Hong Kong city. That's where we leave our Intrepid trip and head off to Sydney for the Sykes family Ruby wedding bonanza.
