Roaminallover-Here, There and Everywhere
Monday 12th August
Bats , Birds and Bad language day
Today we were out and about again mingling with nature. A short drive away from Coffs harbour is Bellingen and the Dorrigo national park (part of another World heritage site). We rambled through the rainforest tracks hunting down the elusive birds- all we managed were a couple of Bush turkeys and a Blue wren . John got a bit twitchy when the Bush Turkey tried to replay Johns Kookaburra incident – but his ham roll and his sanity survived to tell the tale. The walk was nice and not too taxing– through the canopies of the trees. There was a board walk so we didn't have to shin up the trunks. On the way back we stopped off at Bellingen , and located the roost of grey headed fruit bats- all squabbling in their trees- so spent a good half hour watching them and trying to get some good pics.
After our most expensive meal yet on the way back – at Outback Jacks- we squatted outside McDonalds to crib some free wifi to upload a bit more of the blog. After loading the first batch of pics we noticed an aboriginal guy getting agitated and throwing chairs and beer cans – shouting and swearing about racial issues so we decided to move on, and head back to the motel.
